October meeting 2010 report

October 29, 2010 in Euro news

The court has a huge treasure in its History. We’re at Sunbury Court. The place where several highly ranked persons within the Salvation Army went before us.

At the agenda are different subjects to be talked about. How is the Salvation Army Scouting doing in the different territory? What are the goals for reaching out to new countries to join in? How is the communication with the corps, the church, the community?

And of course what activities/events are being planned, in which we can gather some more. One of our main goals is the growth of the Salvation Army Scouting.

Doing so as volunteers also means, we’re talking about our way of living. The way we are touched by the youngsters who joined Salvation Army Scouting and the Lord’s influence in our work. These are serious subjects as well as a lot of concentration in following each other when they use there best form of English translations.

And at the same time there’s a lot of care, joy and food! Our host, arranged a pleasant stay at the barracks at Sunbury Court. He’s apologizing for us having to sleep outside the main house as a group of girl guide leaders are also guests at Sunbury Court during this weekend.

The stay at the barracks is just as nice and well taking care of. During the ‘breakfast’, ‘dinner’, ‘supper’ and ‘tea-time’ were enjoying the well prepared food and service of the staff. There’s really no reason for apologizing!

Although the minutes describe what is being told, I’ll inform you of some upcoming events:

- July 2011 the Dutch, Portugese en French Scouts will join in for a camp in the south of France.

- The Norwegian Scouts will join in an national jamboree in 2012 (we’re welcome to take part in this)

- although it’s not yet being confirmed, we’re looking forward to an international jamboree for Salvation Army Scouts in 2013. This is the Centenary of SA Scouting.

Just to make sure your also being informed about the fun we had in meeting at Sunbury, I have to give you an impression. During the weekend some of us went for q walk which turned into a visit at a graveyard, just to find a box (geocache). One of the Dutch representatives started playing with wooden marbles after a nice walk in the environment. For those who would like to have an description of how to play the game, please contact us.
