Norwegian PIL-weekend

December 28, 2010 in Euro news

The 38 eight patrol leaders aged between 11 and 15 slept outside, even if it was snow on the mountain peaks around them. Some of them and the other leaders did also go for a swim in the river and used the “tent-sauna” to get their body temperature back. And of course they learned more about being a patrol leader, how to plan a meeting, how to create good relations and involve everybody in the patrol and of course a lot of time to get to know knew new friends.

The leaders had a lot of choices and could take a course about the scout program which is a part of the basic training that every scout leader in Norway shall take. If they were finished with the basic training they could choose between mountain navigation, “how to meet/ react to children with a lot of energy”, how to prepare a ceremony, how the nature works, changes in the Norwegian nature, geocaching and how to cook a gourmet dinner on a fire.
